NaNoWriMo – Day 12

Why yes, it is the start of Day 12. While I have high hopes for it, I can also see it crashing and burning. Part of this is due to that fact that – in some ways – I have accomplished more on the 30th Year project than on NaNoWriMo. Okay, not quite as I have written far more pieces for NaNo but in the essence of the works, 30th Year is out ahead.

Yesterday’s word count was only 1036 bring me to 160 words shy of Day 3’s suggested word count of 5001. I’m 9 days behind schedule. 9 days! Again, my plan for today is to get to 7000 words or 332 words ahead of Day 4’s suggested word count. Total hoped for word count for today 2159. I would really like 3000 but I’m not going to push my luck any further than 2159.

Tonight there is a write-in in Longmont. Unfortunately, it was rather planned at the last minute so I will be unable to attend as I already have dinner plans. While I am looking forward to the dinner, spending time writing (with pizza and very liberal applications of caffeine) sounded like a fabulous way to spend a Friday evening. Oh well. I do plan to go to the Saturday afternoon write-in so long as it is not snowing horribly. No sense in driving in foul weather when there really is no need to.

So the inclusion of books on poetry writing was a huge bust. They did not inspire, did not help and rather bored me to tears as I was fully aware of the information they possessed. Oh well. It was an attempt to help and that is what matters in the end. P.S. Books – why such long drawn out chapters on sonnets?

Today’s writing will hopefully include death. Violent bloody fantastic death. WooHoo!
