New Poetry Wednesday – Absolution

Absolution

This shelter cannot save
Save us from these storms
Coming faithfully
To drag us under
A world beyond the one
One we wish to hold forever
Change must come
Disassemble this shelter
Coming down around
Around our bodies entwined
Never want to let go
Yesterday holds so much
Tomorrow too uncertain
Chain ourselves today
For there will never be another
Another like this one in your arms
This shelter cannot save
Save us from absolution
Walk on hand in hand
Across the rains
Intent on making us cry
Pulling us away
Away from one another
While stars still shine
Shine on through the clouds
Storm rages on
Roads wash away
Entwined are we
Even if the storms take
Us far from this place
We can find peace
