Camp NaNoWriMo is almost halfway through and I do not have as much as I would like to have done. I ended up adjusting my final word count from 25000 to 20000 because 25000 became highly unrealistic at the rate I was going. The bulk of my current word count, 9762, is free writing which is unlikely to result in useful product later on. The poetry counts stand at sixteen for Xenium & Xyris, fifteen for Zephyr & Zinc (two of which will end up in Russian Hymns), four for Elysian & Ether, and seven for Nightmares & Nevermore for a total of forty-two. Normally, by this stage, I would have closer to sixty or so but I will take what I can get.
I spent much of the last week out of the house writing even though I had promised myself to stay home, write, and save money. Sadly, I kept waking up in the early morning hours with the desperately dire need to get the hell out of the house immediately. Needless to say, sleep has not been my friend either. I cannot remember the last time I had a decent night sleep or a fulfilling dream. I suppose this is why my poetry count is lagging and I have yet to touch any of the novels. Hard to be inspired when the mind and imagination are running on fumes. I hope this coming week is better. I cannot afford to keep fleeing the house and there is much I need to do there beyond writing. I wish I could figure out why I keep waking up with this dire intent so I could rectify the situation, should it be fixable.
Maybe one of these days I will finally get all my pieces together and be more productive than I am or than I pretend to be.
And many thanks to the 492 people who entered into the giveaway for Ink & Ice. I was delighted to see so many people interested in getting a paperback copy of 100 of the poems I wrote with such love and intent.
