New Poetry Wednesday – Shy Stars

Shy Stars

Such loss and corruption
Scouring being
Distrusting of what
I am becoming
Was it something
I misread
In the shy stars
Hiding deep in the night
From prying eyes that are
Not mine pure
I saw them once
Sang lofty songs
Coaxing them comfortable
Told me what they witness
Now and later
Only to be failed by future
For it is never truly glanced
Braver still I must retain
Keep myself as I wish
Down paths unfortunate
To be witnessed by
Shy stars and I
