New Poetry Wednesday: Stairs

Stairs

Turned upside down
Advice badly given
As I went upstairs
Thought I knew better
Hung my head down
As I tracked the stairs
Up and down again
Coated in sweet words
I cannot bear to hear
Day after day
Drawing me near
Leaving me quarters
On this path as I
Turned inside out
Philosophies badly given
As I went upstairs
Should have known
This could not be
Wrapped in my arms
Up the stairs as I fell
Went tumbling down
Cracking bones against risers
Thought I knew better
Than to let sweet words
Influence me in confluence
