Even though I am currently at 20,000 words, NaNoWriMo has not gone as well as I would have liked. NaNoWriMo is more about the social aspect of writing making writing more appealing in concentrate. The social aspect is missing again this year as no one in my new home regions seems to want to come out to write. I’ve been hosting a weekly write-in (as we have no ML) but only one other person showed for an hour last week. Largely disappointing for sure. I have also learned that my typical early morning writing habit makes for a lack of focus during these evening write-ins. Evenings are for reading and feline overlord snuggles, not writing. The feline overlord is very unhappy about my absence when I return from these evenings out.
On the writing front, I have a lot of free writing trying to get the creative flow going. This, however, has resulted in minimal contributions to the novel idea and Hallow & Hearth. Hallow & Hearth has managed to pick up sixteen pieces which isn’t too shabby. The novel decidedly needs some outline work – pantsing is not fruitful for it – but I stare at the outline in horror because I have nothing but exhaustion.
The last ten days have been ripe with exhaustion I cannot seem to shake. There’s been ample application of caffeine. Exhaustion remains. I have daily difficulty rousing myself to write. For Day 10, I opted to escape to a coffee shop in the morning hours to see if it would help the focus. Not so much.
I just keep pushing ahead and hope for the best.
