NaPoWriMo Day 8 – Grey Lullaby

Grey Lullaby

I build you up with stone
In which I carve your name
Stone by stone in finest days
Growing grey with each layer
I bury you under to keep you
Safe from those words I wield
To kill, never harm, act of mercy
Promise to keep my words twisted
I build you up with stone
In which I carve you name
Never a finer script than these
Carvings give warning to pass
Grey lullaby to sing when nights
Give way to a quicksilver moon
Driving back against the horizon
I build you up with stone
In which I carve your name
Stone by stone in your finest days
