Poetry Wednesday – Mourning

Mourning

Once upon a mourning
I traversed nightmares to
Stumble upon all that is known
Torn between life and death
But I could not keep myself
From falling into the arms
Cold and lonely of death
To keep myself warmer
Than life had ever given
Yet I am left to wonder
Wander if life has never
Been as I perceived
Always death the precipice
Once upon a mourning
Ever since I breathed
Existence into the darkness
Swirl where nightmares be
Where my heart does swell
From falling into the arms
Cold and lonely of death
