Poetry Wednesday – Roots

Roots

Soot of roots
I did burn and bury
Once upon a magic
We did sing strong
Sweeter than moonlight
Until silence by iron
Gagged and bested
By grate, a netted rust
Trapping my roots
Asunder from whole
Core of essence
Where I fell numb
A lost will I never knew
Lurk inside my roots
Turning to soot
